    ATHLETICS- TIMER/RUNNER - GENERAL WHEN: Saturday, May 19, 2018 8:30 AM TO 3:00 PM

    DESCRIPTION: The volunteer that fills this role will use a stopwatch to ensure that accurate times are recorded for each race. They may also help to escort athletes and run results to the awards staging area.

    BASKETBALL VENUE DIRECTOR - GENERAL WHEN: Saturday, May 19, 2018 8:30 AM TO 3:00 PM

    DESCRIPTION: The Venue Director is responsible for planning and managing a quality competition venue for Special Olympics Athletes, and ensuring that athletes are provided with a safe and fair competition that is Olympic in nature. The Venue Director has intimate knowledge of the sport, the Special Olympics Rules, as well as our athlete population. They will oversee all results, awards, and officials at their venue. The Venue Director has final say in rule interpretation and protests at competition. The Venue Director will assemble a team of qualified and reliable volunteers (a Venue Management Team or VMT) that will help to manage the essential components of a quality competition (Awards, Logistics, Volunteers). It is the Venue Directors responsibility to guide the VMT, keep the VMT on schedule, and give them all the tools and training necessary to conduct a successful competition. The Venue Director is a member of the Games Management Team and Reports to the Games Director.

    SCORE/TIME KEEPER - GENERAL WHEN: Saturday, May 19, 2018 8:30 AM TO 3:00 PM

    DESCRIPTION: Using provided basketball score sheets, keep track of points scored, athletes checking in and out of the game, as well as individual and team fouls. This job requires extensive knowledge of the game of basketball and it's rules.
