    AQUATICS VENUE DIRECTOR - GENERAL

    DESCRIPTION: The Venue Director is responsible for planning and managing a quality competition venue for Special Olympics Athletes, and ensuring that athletes are provided with a safe and fair competition that is Olympic in nature. The Venue Director has intimate knowledge of the sport, the Special Olympics Rules, as well as our athlete population. They will oversee all results, awards, and officials at their venue. The Venue Director has final say in rule interpretation and protests at competition. The Venue Director will assemble a team of qualified and reliable volunteers (a Venue Management Team or VMT) that will help to manage the essential components of a quality competition (Awards, Logistics, Volunteers). It is the Venue Directors responsibility to guide the VMT, keep the VMT on schedule, and give them all the tools and training necessary to conduct a successful competition. The Venue Director is a member of the Games Management Team and Reports to the Games Director.

    DESCRIPTION: The volunteer in this role will help with volunteer/team check-in, distribution of lunches to coaches, and will help to prepare, organize, and present awards to Special Olympics athletes.

    DESCRIPTION: The volunteer in this role will help with volunteer and team check-in will be at the information table to answer any questions people may have. They will also help to count and distribute lunches to coaches and help to prepare, organize, and assist in presenting awards to Special Olympics athletes.

    DESCRIPTION: Work directly with timers to record accurate results/times of races on heat sheets.

    AQUATICS STAGING - GENERAL

    DESCRIPTION: The volunteers in this position coordinate the staging of athletes before each race. The volunteers will, with the help of coaches and provided lane assignments, ensure that each athlete is in place and ready when it is their turn to race.

    DESCRIPTION: Using a stopwatch, time athletes in each race, and help to record correct times for each race.

    BASKETBALL- REFEREE - GENERAL

    DESCRIPTION: This volunteer will officiate Special Olympics basketball Competition. They must have detailed knowledge of the basketball rules and experience officiating basketball.

    SCORE/TIME KEEPER - GENERAL

    DESCRIPTION: Using provided basketball score sheets, keep track of points scored, athletes checking in and out of the game, as well as individual and team fouls. This job requires extensive knowledge of the game of basketball and it's rules.

    DESCRIPTION: The volunteer in this position makes sure the venue has ready and able medical supervision and is properly equipped for any minor emergency. The volunteer in this position must have a medical background.
