DESCRIPTION: The Venue Director is responsible for planning and managing a quality competition venue for Special Olympics Athletes, and ensuring that athletes are provided with a safe and fair competition that is Olympic in nature. The Venue Director has intimate knowledge of the sport, the Special Olympics Rules, as well as our athlete population. They will oversee all results, awards, and officials at their venue. The Venue Director has final say in rule interpretation and protests at competition. The Venue Director will assemble a team of qualified and reliable volunteers (a Venue Management Team or VMT) that will help to manage the essential components of a quality competition (Awards, Logistics, Volunteers). It is the Venue Directors responsibility to guide the VMT, keep the VMT on schedule, and give them all the tools and training necessary to conduct a successful competition. The Venue Director is a member of the Games Management Team and Reports to the Games Director.

DESCRIPTION: The volunteers in this position coordinate the staging of athletes before each race. The volunteers will, with the help of coaches and provided lane assignments, ensure that each athlete is in place and ready when it is their turn to race.

DESCRIPTION: This volunteer(s) will be responsible for managing the time of the game as well as keeping the score. The game consists of two 20 minute halves (running time) until the last minute of each half at which the clock will stop on all dead ball whistles (i.e incomplete pass, out of bounds, change of possession). This volunteer(s) will also help with setup and take down of the field before and after competition. Some examples would be setting up benches, canopies, field prep.
