18 PEOPLE AFFILIATED

Founded in 1998, the Priest River Panthers Special Olympic Team has competed in nordic skiing, snowshoeing, track and field, bowling, and equestrian sports. Athletes are dedicated to training, meeting new and old friends at competition, and are very competitive. Each athlete on the Priest River Panthers has earned medals in every event that they have participated in. The Priest River Panthers have two athletes that have competed beyond the State level; one at World Games in Louisiana, and one at National Games in Lincoln, Nebraska. Each of the athletes on this team strives to do their best, and their sportsmanship is outstanding. The coaches and volunteers of the Priest River Panthers are as dedicated as the athletes; at one point, this team had three times more volunteers than athletes! Thank you for your support of Special Olympics and for supporting each of these athletes as they continue in their quest for the gold!

GET INVOLVED - VOLUNTEER
Want to spend your extra time doing something worthwhile? Then the Priest River Panthers Special Olympic Team needs YOU! We are always looking for volunteers to help coach, do fundraising, recruit athletes and volunteers. Junior volunteers are 13-18 years of age, and Class A volunteers are over the age of 18. Getting started is easy and the rewards of working with such dedicated athletes is very rewarding. Won't you join us now? Contact Local Program Coordinator Michelle Schultz at 208-448-2680 or email mnmschultz@verizon.net to get started right away!

NEED A TAX BREAK?
You can make a tax deductible contribution to the Priest River Panthers Special Olympic Team. 100% of your donation will benefit the athletes of this team by purchasing uniforms, equipment, meals, travel and housing. We make several overnight trips for competition each year and all expenses come from our team account. Your contribution, no matter how large or small, will go a long way toward supporting this team! Please feel free to contact Local Program Coordinator, Michelle Schultz, at 208-448-2680 or email mnmschultz@verizon.net for more information.

GO JUMP IN THE RIVER!!!
time to start getting those sponsors for the 5th Annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics! Raise a minimum of $25 and earn the privilege of taking the annual dip in the balmy waters of the Pend Oreille River. February 21, 2008 at the Priest River city docks we will begin registration at 11:30 and take the leap at Noon! We have some great prizes this year that will be awarded in 3 categories: the plumpest purse award goes to the individual who raises the most money, the panther pretender award is for the best costume, and the polar popsicle is for the brave individual who can stay in the water the longest (BRRRRRRRR!). Our goal this year is to raise $1000 and have 20 people go in the water! We need everyone to work together to make this happen and raise much needed funds for the Priest River Panthers! Get going everyone and we'll see you on the beach February 21st!
