The Coeur d’Alene team consists of athletes and volunteers from the cities of Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Twin Lakes, Hauser, Spirit Lake, and Athol. Our team has so much fun that we even have athletes join us from Spokane Valley, WA and other surrounding areas.
We participate year-round in every sport Idaho offers (providing we have a coach, that is!). Our athletes always give 110% during practices, competitions, and whatever else they are helping with. We also have a great group of volunteers who participate in everything from coaching to fundraising to making sure the LPC’s head is on straight.
Coeur d’Alene team’s motto: “Always try your best and HAVE FUN!”
The Coeur d'Alene Plunge has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 31st at Sander's Beach in CDA! Check-in will start at 9am and the official plunge will be at 10am! Please contact Sara if you would like to help raise money for your local CDA Special Olympics team by taking the plunge!
WINTER STATE GAMES HAVE BEEN CANCELED FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS IDAHO!
The outdoor sports of Downhill Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, and Snowboarding have been canceled for Special Olympics Idaho Winter State Games due to lack of snow. With how little snow Idaho has received so far this winter, many teams (including Coeur d'Alene) have not been able to have the scheduled amount of practices needed to qualify for Area and State games. With that said, it has also been decided that CDA Floor Hockey will not attend Winter State Games either - it is just not cost effective.
Please note, though, that Area Games for Downhill Skiing, Cross-Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, and Snowboarding are still a go! Snow is planned in the forecast, so we are hoping that it will stick around so we can have Area Games. Floor Hockey, though, has been canceled at Area Games due to the lack of other teams to play (CDA has the only unified team in the Area!)
If anyone has any questions regarding North Idaho Winter Area Games and Idaho State Games, please contact your coach or Sara. Thank you!!
WHAT WE OFFER (AND WHEN)
Coeur d'Alene Eagles Special Olympics is a year-round team offering all the sports available in Idaho.
For Winter sports, we offer Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing, and Floor Hockey as an indoor sport for those who don't like being out in cold.
Other sports offered throughout the year are: Athletics (track & field), Aquatics (swimming), Basketball, Cycling, Powerlifting, Golf, Softball, Volleyball, and Bowling.
Please call for information about joining our team as an athlete or volunteer. We would love to have you!
MAKE A CONTRIBUTION
Participation in Special Olympics is FREE to the athlete. In order to accomplish this, our team must raise funds for equipment, uniforms and registration fees at state-level competitions. Your contributions of time and money really do make a difference! To make a tax-deductible donation, make your check payable to SPECIAL OLYMPICS and mail to Coeur d'Alene Special Olympics, P.O. Box 653, Rathdrum, ID 83858.
ALL MONEY STAYS LOCAL and 100% is used to benefit our athletes in Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Spirit Lake, Rathdrum, and Athol. Let us know that you found us on the Web!
Our team is always looking for volunteers! We have over 100 athletes and volunteering is fun and rewarding! In addition to coaches, volunteers also perform a variety of management/administrative functions that keep the team running smoothly.
Our Class A volunteers are over 18 years of age and have passed a background check. We also utilize junior volunteers, from 13 to 18 years of age, under the supervision of a Class A volunteer. If you've never worked with us before, don't worry - training is available to help you be successful.
